To begin, choose your body concern:
Acne can be a problem not only for teens, but also for those patients
well past their twenties, thirties and even their forties. Many patients
continue to suffer from recurrent breakouts well into adulthood causing
embarrassment, frustration and added stress in already busy lives. At
The Menkes Clinic, our approach to the treatment of acne starts with
recognizing that each patient is an individual with unique needs. Our
physicians evaluate each patient's lifestyle, personal goals and treatment
preferences in order to formulate the most effective plan that will result
in healthy, clear, and radiant skin. We are always ready to answer questions
and provide the latest, scientifically-proven treatments for our patients.
Acne pimples can lead to unwanted imperfections in the skin, especially
surface defects and discoloration. Acne scars commonly occur on the face,
chest and back and may appear as:
- • Shallow depressions or divots
- • Deep, ice-pick indentations
- • Firm, rubbery bumps or nodules
- • Dark brown spots and discoloration
- • Persistent pink or red blotches
In general, the deeper and larger the pimples, the greater the risk is for residual scarring. Therefore, early treatment of acne is ideal to prevent unwanted scars. We treat acne with oral antiobiotics such as Accutane, topical medications and blue light therapy. For acne scarring we offer several treatments to help reduce the appearance of scarring, such as chemical peels and facials, laser treatments and microdermabrasion.

Birthmarks are skin lesions that are noticed within the first few weeks
to months of life and are typically harmless. There are two main
categories of birthmarks—red birthmarks and pigmented birthmarks. Red
birthmarks are a vascular (blood vessel) type of birthmark. Pigmented
birthmarks are areas in which the color of the birthmark is different
from the color of the rest of the skin.

Cellulite, for most, is a dimpled appearance on the surface of the skin
caused by fat deposits, mainly on the thighs, stomach and pelvic
area. Once aquired, it is very difficult to get rid of as topical
creams and such may soften the look of your skin, but it can not
attack the fat below the skin. We are excited to introduce a new
technology called Cellulaze, a treatment for cellulite
that attacks the structural problem beneath the skin.

In the past three decades, there has been a tremendous
increase in our understanding of pediatric skin conditions,
the genetic basis for many of these diseases, and their
treatment. Skin diseases in infants and young children
vary in many respects from the same diseases in older
children and adults. As a result, young children may
require a dermatologist with special expertise in order
to obtain an accurate diagnosis and effective treatment.

Many people suffer from persistent redness of the cheeks,
nose and sometimes the entire face. Usually, but not always,
these red blotches and visible small blood vessels are seen
in patients who have fair skin and blush easily. These skin
changes can affect all races and gradually worsen over time if
left untreated. Many adults with these symptoms of facial
redness, easy flushing, broken capillaries and pimples,
actually have a skin condition called Rosacea.
